Writing with an AI assistant

You can ask an AI assistant to write a study for ChordShed. The assistant needs the format reference, chordshed.com/llm.txt, and each request below asks it to read that first. Copy a request, change the key and the chords to what you are working on, and give it to your assistant.

Shell voicings

Read https://chordshed.com/llm.txt. Create a ChordShed document with shell voicings for a ii-V-I in C, F, Bb and Eb, one progression for each key, with the roots on the E and A strings and a fingering for each chord. Follow the reference's checking instructions where your tools allow. Return the complete source in one code block and state whether it was checked. If you cannot access the reference, say so rather than guessing.

Drop 2 inversions

Read https://chordshed.com/llm.txt. Create a ChordShed document with the four inversions of Cmaj7 as drop 2 voicings on the top four strings, going up the neck, then the same for Dm7 and for G7, one progression for each chord. State each chord's root and give a fingering. Follow the reference's checking instructions where your tools allow. Return the complete source in one code block and state whether it was checked. If you cannot access the reference, say so rather than guessing.

Alternatives for a dominant

Read https://chordshed.com/llm.txt. Create a ChordShed document with a ii-V-I in G, and offer three named alternatives for the D7: its tritone substitute, a backdoor ii-V, and D7#9. Before the progression, explain each alternative in a sentence. Follow the reference's checking instructions where your tools allow. Return the complete source in one code block and state whether it was checked. If you cannot access the reference, say so rather than guessing.

Your own shapes

Replace the two lines of frets with the chords you play, each from the low E string to the high E string, with x for a string you do not play.

Read https://chordshed.com/llm.txt. Write these chords as a ChordShed document, in this order, without changing a fret: x 5 x 5 6 x 3 x 3 4 x x State each chord's root and name each chord in its comment. Follow the reference's checking instructions where your tools allow. Return the complete source in one code block and state whether it was checked. If you cannot access the reference, say so rather than guessing.

Opening the answer

The assistant answers with the study's source. In ChordShed, choose New in Files, open Edit, paste the source and choose Done. If ChordShed reports a problem in a line, give the message to your assistant and ask for a correction.

If your assistant supports MCP, you can add https://chordshed.com/mcp to it as a server, and it checks its drafts itself.
